Ante up for the game of a lifetime! Billy Fox, a small-time gambler on a losing streak, has more than enough problems on his hands, owing too much money to some very impatient people. But when he rescues a blinded stranger from a swarm of bloodthirsty fairies, Billy’s life gets a lot more complicated.... Seems the stranger is actually a powerful local god who is involved in a high-stakes Florida poker tournament against various supernatural challengers. And with his eyes currently missing, he needs somebody to take his place at the gaming table. Before Billy knows it, he finds himself playing against the likes of an ancient Egyptian mummy, an unbearably seductive succubus, a mechanical man, an insect queen, and a cannibalistic beast-man. And not just cards are in play; magic, bloodshed, and cheating are not only expected, they’re encouraged. Everybody, including a sexy satyr-girl with her own cards up her sleeve, thinks that Billy is in way over his head. But Billy is a born gambler and, when the chips are down, he might just change his luck for good! Blind God's Bluff is an outrageously addictive urban fantasy that will keep you listening until the very last hand. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Adam Verner. From best-selling author Randi Cooley Wilson comes a new novella in her Royal Protector Academy series.Zander Argyris never expected to reign over the Woodland Realm. He preferred living in the shadow of his stepbrother, Tristan Gallagher, being second in command of the Royal Guard, and spending his days charming nymphs - until Magali. The last thing Magali Grayson needs is to get her heartbroken, again. After falling for her Academy friend, Ryker, and then watching him fall even harder for her roommate, Ireland, Magali never really left room in her heart for someone else - until Zander.Zander never expected Magali. For a satyr, the lowest form of supernatural creature, gargoyles are, well - off-limits. And falling in love with one would be dangerous. Especially one who is the best friend and roommate of his brother’s mate. Magali can’t deny her immediate connection with Zander. And even though she wasn’t looking for love, it found her. However, as with everything in their world, secrets, and bloodlines have a way of rewriting destinies. Will Zander risk everything for the one who has captivated him? Or will he accept a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself?A King Rises is a companion novella in The Royal Protector Academy series - a dangerously exciting and darkly romantic paranormal romance series that will take your breath away. RPA can be read as a standalone trilogy or after the bestselling Revelation series. Intended for mature listeners.Zander was a 2017 UTOPiA Award Nominee for Best Bestie or Buddy 1. Language: English. Narrator: Kale Williams, Lily Ward. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/180921/bk_acx0_180921_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

The conclusion to Noelle and Hunter's story! After discovering that she - surprise - has a brother, and that Hunter has been holding out on her when it comes to how exactly she can get back home, Noelle chooses to ride off on a majestic buck rather than spend one more minute with the two guys. But, as she finds out, running away doesn’t mean that her story is over. In fact, it’s only just begun - NoelleYou’ve got to be friggin’ kidding me!It’s bad enough that I fell through an antique mirror and ended up in the enchanted forest of the Other. I thought I’d seen it all after being chased by giant scorpions, getting shot at by a mysterious archer, and being hit on by a horny satyr. Yeah, right.Thank the stars that I had Hunter, the gorgeous huntsman who’s been at my side since I landed here. Without him, I would’ve been scorpion chow within minutes. Kind and strong and a pleasure to look at when he isn’t wearing his hooded cloak, trying like hell to get back home to my condo (and my cat) wasn’t so bad as long as I had Hunter. Then I met Alex, the mysterious archer I mentioned, and he dropped the bomb on me: He’s my brother.Even worse?Hunter’s been lying to me all along. He’s not helping me go home. He can’t. No one can.Apparently we’re stuck in some stupid story. The magic of the other? It brings people to this weirdo world to relive ancient Greek myths over and over again and I can’t leave until the story is done. One problem. No one will tell me how the myth of Artemis and Orion ends.HunterOrion keeps whispering in my ear, telling me how our story is supposed to go: Find Artemis, fall in love with the maiden goddess, and die. It’s what happens every time - there’s no way around it.But Noelle isn’t like any Artemis he’s ever known. She’s feisty and loyal and looks at me as if staying chaste is the last thing on her mind.At least, she did. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Kae Marie Denino. Ancient Greek Comedy
39,00 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ancient Greek comedy was one of three principal dramatic forms in the theatre of classical Greece (the others being tragedy and the satyr play). Athenian comedy is conventionally divided into three periods, Old Comedy, Middle Comedy, and New Comedy. Old Comedy survives today largely in the form of the eleven surviving plays of Aristophanes, while Middle Comedy is largely lost, i.e. preserved only in relatively short fragments in authors such as Athenaeus of Naucratis. New Comedy is known primarily from the substantial papyrus fragments of Menander. The philosopher Aristotle wrote in his Poetics (c. 335 BC) that comedy is a representation of laughable people and involves some kind of blunder or ugliness which does not cause pain or disaster. C. A. Trypanis wrote that comedy is the last of the great species of poetry Greece gave to the world.

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Formerly the glorious god Apollo, he is now just Lester, a mere mortal. Don't miss the last part of Rick Riordan's most spectacular saga: The Trials of Apollo. With the help of some demigods, Lester has managed to survive the first two trials: e at Camp Half-Blood, and one in Indianapolis, where Meg received the Dark Prophecy. The words she uttered while seated on the Throne of Memory revealed that an evil dream team of Roman emperors plans to attack Camp Jupiter. While Leo flies ahead on Festus to warn the Roman camp, Lester and Meg must go through the Labyrinth to find the third emperor-and an Oracle who speaks in word puzzles-somewhere in the American Southwest. There is one glimmer of hope in the gloom-filled prophecy: The cloven guide alone the way does know. They will have a satyr companion, and Meg knows just who to call upon…

The Satire on Learning in Swift's 'Digression o...

Seminar paper from the year 2004 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 1,7 (A-), Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Englies Institute), course: Swift and Satire, 14 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: 'Satyr is a sort of Glass, wherein Beholders do generally discover everybody's face but their Own; which is the chief Reason for that kind Reception it meets in the World, and that so few are offended with it' (Swift, see Weiss 1). When Swift wrote this, A Tale of a Tub had not been published yet. If it had been, he might not have characterised satire as something quite inoffensive to the individual reader: A Tale of a Tub made him the subject of massive criticism, mainly because of its supposed blasphemous nature. Not very surprisingly, however, this criticism was mainly issued by the men he had attacked in the digression, which were not about religion but learning (see Storkman xvi). Similarly, although Swift had called his satire 'On the Corruptions in Religion and Learning', and although at least two thirds of it actually deal with learning, most of the public interest has gone into the part of it concerning religion (see Storkman xiv). In this paper, I therefore want to examine Swift's satire on learning in the tenth section of A Tale of a Tub, 'A Digression on Madness'. I will start with some introductory notes on satire, covering its history, its character and its techniques. In a second part I will then analyse 'A Digression of Madness' first from a historical and then from a structural point of view. In the last chapter I will conclude the paper by summarising and discussing the main arguments of the first two chapters.
